Overview

The GT sedan is a good option if you want to drive around in the Mercedes-AMG GT sports vehicle but need a back seat to justify spending that much money. To let you enjoy your high-speed journeys with friends and family, it combines the performance and grin-inducing handling of the GT with a rear seat that may be either a three-seat bench or two bucket seats. The GT43's base engine produces a healthy 362 horsepower, while the GT53's engine produces 429 horsepower. The GT sedan can almost rival Mercedes' other luxury vehicles thanks to an adjustable suspension with a comfortable setting and a range of luxury and convenience amenities to soothe the driver and passengers after you've finished carving up your favorite local backroad or racing circuit.

Engine, Transmission, Performance

A powerful inline-six-cylinder engine with a turbocharger, an intercooler, an electric supercharger, and a small electric motor is found under the hoods of the GT43 and GT53. The electric motor and supercharger fill in the momentary pause before the turbo spins maximum boost when moving from a stop. Every time you press the accelerator, the 3.0-liter, which generates a combined 429 horsepower in the GT53, rips necks. The GT53, which has a standard nine-speed automatic transmission, reached 60 mph in our tests in 4.1 seconds, and its sport-tuned suspension provided flat, quick cornering and levels of grip comparable to those found in sports cars. However, we haven't tested the brand-new GT43 for 2021.

Interior, Comfort, Cargo

The GT's interior is mainly like that of Mercedes' other four-door coupe, the CLS, but its spacious console appears to have been taken from the GT sports car. Although obtrusive, it gives the cockpit a sporty impression. Although the general interior design is futuristic and visually appealing, some of its ergonomics can be challenging. Additionally, it only has four seats, which may be a problem for certain families. A comprehensive and flat-bottomed steering wheel, aluminum trim, and a digital gauge cluster complement the sedan's high-performance goal, while aggressively bolstered sport seats are standard and pleasant. The materials match AMG's cost, and the build quality is superb. The rear seats of the GT coupe do fold down to provide baggage room, but this vehicle is a hatchback. There are 12.7 cubic feet of space when the back seats are occupied. Most people will be satisfied, but the Porsche Panamera provides more.
