Overview
The McLaren 570S thrives on excitement. The 570S will make everyone envious with its crowd-drawing body, two seats, dihedral doors, and adequate fighter jet air intakes. Its 562-hp twin-turbo V-8, deadly exhaust note, uncanny handling, and carbon fiber and aluminum construction ensure it is not a showpiece. None of the competing vehicles at this high end of the sports car market can match the raw thrill of tearing a 570S into a curve, whether they are more refined, practical, or both.
Engine, Transmission, Performance
The 570S's middle-mounted, 562-hp twin-turbo 3.8-liter V-8 engine performs as it comes from a Formula 1 racing team, which it does. It propelled the lightweight supercar down the road with such violence that our neck muscles struggled to keep up with it when combined with a smooth-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This is a soul-filled engine. The sound is seductive inside the car, pleading with you to press the throttle first and ask questions later. The 570S launched from zero to 60 mph in our tests in 2.7 seconds, faster than any rival. When driven as intended, the 570S is a beautifully one-sided car, bent so much toward obliterating back roads at extreme speeds that it provokes both awe and horror. Although we adore it for its brilliance and simplicity of design, other vehicles in this class provide a more upscale and comfortable driving environment. The McLaren's responsive steering, alive-feeling chassis, and limitless power made us yearn for more time driving it on our favorite routes.
Interior, Comfort, Cargo
Buy a minivan if you want practicality. The McLaren 570S is the smallest possible vehicle that can fit two people, an engine, and four tires; daily utility is given very little consideration. However, McLaren does include the extras that are often included with a six-figure price tag. The 570S has luxury features like dual-zone automatic climate control, four USB ports, leather upholstery, and an optional faux-suede headliner. However, weight loss results are evident, and there are few other luxuries. A supercar like the 570S presents a contradiction since it is a terrible vehicle to take on vacation despite begging to be driven on the open road. You'll need to travel light because there isn't much storage or cargo capacity available.
